According to data from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/eu\/resources\/research-reports\/connected-shoppers-report\/\">Salesforce <\/a><\/strong>(December 2024), <strong>71% of shoppers<\/strong> worldwide want<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mio.one\/en\/blog\/ai-agents-are-already-in-use-at-spanish-companies\/\">AI agents<\/a> to answer their questions for <\/strong>faster service. This growing interest reveals a true transformation in the relationship between consumers and technology.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From our perspective, we analyze how marketing should respond to this reality and which strategic areas to focus on to support the evolution of the customer journey using artificial intelligence.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where do consumers expect to find an AI agent?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <strong>Connected Shoppers Report ( <\/strong>Salesforce, Dec. 2024):  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Role of AI<\/strong> <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Consumer Interest (%)<\/strong> <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Addressing customer service inquiries  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>71\u202f%<\/strong> <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Buy when a target price is reached  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">65\u202f%  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Manage Returns or Exchanges  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">62\u202f%  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Manage loyalty points  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">59\u202f%  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Shop Recommended Products  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">47\u202f%  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Sharing Data with AI (U.S. Only)  <\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>24%<\/strong> (source: eMarketer + CivicScience)  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Conclusion:<\/em> Users want AI<strong> that saves them time<\/strong>, <strong>reduces frustration<\/strong>, and <strong>gives them control\u2026<\/strong>but they don\u2019t want to give up decision-making.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trust First, Automation Second<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although there is a high level of interest in AI capabilities, <strong>trust is the major bottleneck.<\/strong> According to the study, only 1 in 4 consumers feels comfortable sharing data with an AI system to make a purchase.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u27a1 What does this tell us? That <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mio.one\/en\/blog\/amazons-nova-act-a-new-step-toward-smart-automation\/\">automation in <\/a>retail should start with what\u2019s most useful, not what\u2019s most intrusive.<\/strong> In general, in the marketing sector, we need to be aware of this and introduce <strong>AI in a practical way<\/strong>: answering frequently asked questions, automating returns, managing loyalty points, or notifying customers of price drops.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What can brands do?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For us, these three actions are key to integrating AI into the consumer journey:  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1. Implement AI at actual pain points<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data shows that consumers are more open to the use of AI <strong>for tasks that are a hassle for them<\/strong>: inquiries, returns, and price tracking.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Action: Start by implementing conversational AI tools (chatbots) and assistants for loyalty management.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Design experiences that build trust<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The adoption of AI depends on its transparency and usefulness. We should prioritize interfaces that explain how decisions are made, offer choices, and <strong>respect privacy.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Action: Use AI as <strong>a facilitator<\/strong>, not as a substitute for the consumer.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Move from utility to personalization<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you&#8217;ve built trust, you can move on to recommendation features or automated purchasing, but <strong>do so gradually and in a controlled manner.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right approach: solve the problem first, customize it next, and automate it last.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For all these reasons, we conclude that AI <strong>is not just a trend in retail<\/strong>\u2014it is an expectation.
